These legends rolled out on our scooters recently — and yes, we’re always a little envious of the helmet exemption freedom!

Thanks to a cultural and religious exemption, Sikh riders get to cruise helmet-free — old-school style, with the wind in their turbans! To us this is an epic sight; cool riders on classic scooters, totally free, enjoying Waiheke’s sun-dappled country lanes, sea breeze & laid back nature vibe humming with birdsong & stunning views everywhere. Our scooters aren’t about rushing from A to B — they’re about slowing down, soaking up the island’s beauty, and riding with some style. It definitely helps when your ride looks as good as it feels. Life’s too short for an ugly scooter! 

So if you’re ready to explore, come find us. Helmet or not, you’ll leave with a deeper sense of the island — and probably a few good stories to go with it.

Autumnal Picnic for Scooterists

Summer picnics get all the glory, but autumnal hues and scenery makes for excellent outdoor excursions. Dress warm, grab a cosy blanket, hunt out the old thermos's and make a picnic lunch to share after an exhilarating ride in the crisp autumn air.

Island Scoot's Favourite Autumnal Picnic Combo

Cheese & Pickles with a Homemade Paleo Nut Loaf, Marsala Chai & Chocolate Bliss Balls.

For Marsala Chai, 2 black tea bags, 2  tsp freshly ground cardamom, 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon & fennel seeds, knob of fresh ginger, pinch of black pepper & clove, 2-3 heaped tsp coconut sugar. 2 1/2 cups of water, 1 cup of milk of your choice. Simmer till delicious.

Old School, New Digs.....Blackpool.

We have moved our headquarters to our workshop in Blackpool. Just down the road from the BP gas station,  Blackpool beach and the Piritahi Marae. Don't worry it's still completely central. Literally a 2 minute walk from the centre of Oneroa village.... Gear up for summer!
